CURRENT OPENINGS
Architectural Designer & Construction Administration - Residential
The In-House Architectural Designer/Draftsman will be responsible for creating detailed architectural designs, construction drawings, and permit-ready drawings using Revit for residential projects. This role will also involve managing the permitting process, coordinating with consultants (e.g., structural and civil engineers), and performing construction administration duties, including on-site coordination and inspections. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver with strong technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to balance design, permitting, and fieldwork to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Architectural Design & Drafting (50%):
• Develop conceptual bank drawings, detailed architectural designs, construction drawings, and 3D models for residential projects using Autodesk Revit.
• Prepare schematic designs for bank, design development, and construction documents, ensuring compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, and company standards.
• Produce accurate floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and schedules in Revit to support construction and permitting processes.
• Maintain and organize Revit models, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to BIM standards.
• Collaborate with the project team to translate conceptual designs into buildable plans, incorporating team and consultant feedback and project requirements.
Permitting & Consultant Coordination (25%):
• Create permit-ready drawings in Revit, including site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, and other required documentation, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Manage the permitting process, including preparing and submitting permit applications to relevant authorities and responding to reviewer comments or requests for revisions.
• Coordinate with consultants, such as structural and civil engineers, to integrate their designs into project plans and ensure compliance with permitting requirements.
• Review consultant deliverables (e.g., structural calculations, civil site plans) for accuracy and alignment with architectural designs.
• Track permitting timelines and maintain communication with permitting authorities to ensure timely approvals.
Construction Administration (20%):
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, verify compliance with design intent, and address any discrepancies or field issues.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs (Requests for Information) to ensure alignment with design specifications.
• Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and project managers to resolve on-site challenges and maintain project timelines and quality standards.
• Document site observations, prepare field reports, and communicate findings to the project team.
• Participate in project meetings, including pre-construction, progress, and close-out meetings, to provide design and technical input.
Additional Duties (5%):
• Assist in developing presentations, renderings, or visualizations for client meetings or marketing purposes.
• Stay updated on industry trends, building codes, permitting requirements, and advancements in Revit and BIM technologies.
• Contribute to a collaborative and positive team environment, supporting other team members as needed.
KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in architectural design and drafting, with proficiency in Autodesk Revit (required).
• Demonstrated experience preparing permit drawings and managing the permitting process for residential projects.
• Experience coordinating with structural, civil, or other consultants to integrate their designs into project plans.
• Familiarity with residential construction projects and construction administration processes.
• Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, permitting requirements, and construction methods for residential projects.
• Proficiency in Revit, including creating families, managing BIM models, and producing high-quality construction and permit drawings.
• Familiarity with additional software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, or rendering tools is a plus.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with team, consultants, sub-contractors, and permitting authorities.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working on construction sites, with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work independently as well as part of a small, close-knit team.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with sustainable design principles or energy-efficient building practices.
• Knowledge of construction management software (e.g., Buildertrend).
• Prior experience working for a small residential development or construction company.
• Familiarity with local permitting processes and relationships with permitting authorities in Medford, Arlington, Cambridge, Somerville etc.

Work Environment:
• This is a full-time, in-house position based at Fombelle Design Headquarters
• The role requires a mix of office-based design and permitting work (70%) and on-site construction administration duties (30%), with regular site visits.
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines, attend site visits, or address permitting needs.

Office Assistant - Residential Construction
The Office Assistant will play a vital role in supporting our office manager and construction team by managing administrative tasks, including financial tracking, project scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and material procurement. The ideal candidate is proficient in QuickBooks and Buildertrend, highly organized, and thrives in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
• QuickBooks Assistance: Perform data entry, manage invoices, track expenses, and assist with account reconciliation in QuickBooks. Generate financial reports as requested.
• Buildertrend Scheduling: Update and manage project schedules in Buildertrend, ensuring tasks, deadlines, and milestones are accurately tracked and communicated.
• Subcontractor Insurance Compliance: Collect, verify, and maintain insurance certifications and other required documentation from subcontractors to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
• Material Ordering: Coordinate with suppliers to order materials, track deliveries, and ensure timely availability of resources to support project timelines.
• Administrative Support: Handle phone calls, emails, and filing. Provide general office support to the construction team to ensure smooth operations.
• Communication: Act as a liaison between project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to facilitate effective communication and project coordination.
KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in business administration or related field is a plus.
• 1-2 years of administrative experience, ideally in construction or a related field.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Buildertrend (or similar construction management software).
• Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic understanding of construction processes, subcontractor documentation, or material ordering is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with residential construction processes.
